Welcome to Emmaus ("the App"), a voice-first Bible companion designed to help you engage with Scripture and develop your prayer life. By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the App, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and that you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. Description of Service

Emmaus is a conversational Bible companion that uses artificial intelligence to help users explore Scripture, generate personalized prayers, and connect biblical wisdom to everyday life. The App is a learning and devotional tool — it is not a substitute for pastoral counsel, professional advice, or the guidance of a qualified ministry leader.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

Emmaus offers a free tier with limited daily usage and a Premium subscription that unlocks unlimited access. Premium is available as:

Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's terms and billing practices. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

4. Free Trial

If a free trial is offered, it will convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless canceled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited upon purchasing a subscription.

You may sign in using Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

All content, design, branding, and code within the App are the property of Emmaus and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Bible translations used within the App are the property of their respective publishers and are used in accordance with their licensing terms.

8. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Emmaus uses artificial intelligence to generate responses, prayers, and Scripture-based reflections. While the App strives for theological accuracy and faithfulness to Scripture, AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors or limitations. The App is not a substitute for reading the Bible directly, attending church, or seeking guidance from qualified pastoral leaders. All AI responses should be considered as supplementary to — not a replacement for — your own study and discernment.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Emmaus and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App, including but not limited to reliance on AI-generated content.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
